NATIONAL HIV TESTING DAY
Take the Test, Take Control. National HIV Testing Day – 6/27/2009

Damien Ministries is pleased to support National HIV Testing Day on Saturday, June 27, 2009.  National HIV Testing Day (NHTD) is an annual campaign coordinated by the National Association of People with AIDS to encourage people of all ages to "Take the Test, Take Control."

HIV/AIDS is an epidemic in Washington, DC.  It is estimated that well over 3% of Washingtonians are HIV positive.  Knowing one's status is the first and most essential step in combating the spread of HIV in our city.

Damien Ministries encourages Washingtonians to take the following steps to observe National HIV Testing Day:
  • Get tested for free at a local HIV testing center.  (Link opens a PDF document)
  • Encourage your church or faith community to establish a new HIV/AIDS ministry (or strengthen an established HIV/AIDS ministry)
  • Volunteer at a local HIV/AIDS service organization, such as Damien Ministries
  • Educate yourself and others!
